4 How can we help young people thrive in the 21st century?
This question is at the heart of many organisations globally We want to understand how to build and develop the best learning environments and programmes in order to facilitate success. How will we make Activate Enterprise learners the most sought after?

Does our educational provision promote academic, vocational and psychological readiness? Successful People Psychological development Skill Development Academic Achievement All 3 are needed to create successful young people

6 The current research project
First of its kind in Further Education Ongoing for 18 months Over 100 learners are part of the research project Public Service curriculum “Further than education” – Strategic Vision

7 Strategic vision Activate Enterprise - Strategic Aim No. 1
“Develop entrepreneurially minded and employable people by creating excellent experiences” Employers consistently ask for young people to be employable. What do we mean by employability? This research is exploring employability in a broader context.

8 Thinking beyond the test score mentality
Focussing only on academic attainment is too short sighted Today’s academic achievement is not a reliable measure of tomorrow’s success So, what is?

Who is successful and why? Duckworth’s research suggests that there is one predictor across all contexts Grit – Passion and perseverance, stamina, sticking with your longer term goals, working at it really hard to make it a reality
