2 Ser To remember when to use the verb “ser”, think of the acronym DOCTOR. D – Descriptions = Essential qualities that define a person or thing and probably won’t change anytime soon. O – Occupation = What someone does for a living or as a hobby. C – Characteristics = Personality descriptions of a person. T – Time = Days, dates, years, and the time on the clock. O – Origin = The place a person or thing is from, or the material something is made from R – Relationships = Personal relationships such as family ties, friendship, and romantic relationships.

3 Estar To remember when to use the verb “estar”, think of the acronym PLACE. P – Position =  Refers to the physical position or posture a person or thing is in. L – Location = The location of someone or something describes where it is permanently, temporarily, or conceptually. A – Actions = Describe ongoing actions and is often followed by a present participle. C – Conditions = Physical and mental conditions. Or things that are likely to vary over several hours, days, or even years can be fall into this category. E – Emotions = How a person is feeling at a certain moment.
