4 Citywide Forum (Children, Young People and Families)
The Children, Young People and Families Citywide Forum aims to: Co-ordinate reps from the Third Sector on strategic committees on Children’s Services Ensure two-way communication and feedback Share knowledge, experience and good practice Gather and co-ordinate views Ensure that the voices of services users are heard Aims of the forum are: as per slide. One of the areas that is more challenging in the field of CP is ensuring that the voices of young people are held. SW’s and Police are highly trained in conducting CP investigations and how they interview young people. However it is something that comes up at the CPC regularly is how do we truly involve children and young people in ensuring their voices are heard and feedback improves the way the system works and they get the right support they need. It has been recognised over the years that Third sector colleagues often have more success and tools which enhance children and young peoples ability to be heard. So today we have a few innovative examples of third sector engagement with C&YP. Let me introduce them: next slide It is hoped that these examples might help us all engage better with young people and assist the CPC in developing future methods and tools to involve young people. We are currently not as lucky as the Adult protection committee to have service user representatives on our committee –so how do we develop more effective ways.
