1 “Geometry” Module 5 Review
7th Grade Math

2 TRUE OR FALSE: In a triangle, the sum of any two sides must be less than the third side.

3 A scale on a map shows that 2 inches = 36 miles
A scale on a map shows that 2 inches = 36 miles. How many inches on the map represents 108 miles?

4 What are the measures of angles a, b, and c?

5 Which of the following possibilities will form a triangle?
 Side = 15 cm, side = 7 cm, side = 7 cm Side = 15 cm, side = 7 cm, side = 9 cm  Side = 14 cm, side = 6 cm, side = 7 cm  Side = 14 cm, side = 6 cm, side = 8 cm

6 Determine the value of x and y:

7 Andy wrote the following statement: "You can only draw one unique isosceles triangle that contains an angle of 55°.” (True or False)

8 A circle is cut from a square piece of cloth
A circle is cut from a square piece of cloth. How many square inches of cloth are cut from the square? in2   in2  1, in2  1, in2

9 A running track is the in the shape of the oval
A running track is the in the shape of the oval. The ends of the track form semicircles. What is the perimeter of the track? m m m m

10 Consider the rectangular box below
Consider the rectangular box below. If a cross section of the paperweight is cut parallel to the base, which shape describes the cross section?  Rectangle Triangle  Parallelogram  Hexagon

11 Match the word with the meaning:
Supplementary Angles Two angles that add up to 90 degrees. Complementary Angles An angle that is greater than 90 degrees Vertical Angles An angle that is less than 90 degrees. Corresponding Angles Two angles that add up to 180 degrees. Obtuse Angle Two angles that are directly across from each other when two lines interest. Acute Angle An angle that adds up to 90 degrees. Right Angle Two angles that share the same side.

12 The diameter of the rug is twice the radius.
Dawn bought a circular rug. The radius of the rug was 1.5 feet. How does the diameter of the rug compare to the radius? The diameter of the rug is twice the radius. The diameter of the rug is half the radius. The radius is twice the circumference. Not Here

13 Determine the value of a:

14 The surface area of a box is 778 inches squared
The surface area of a box is 778 inches squared. If you need to scale down the shape by a scale factor of ¼, what would be the new surface area? Round your answer to the nearest hundredth.

15 A. 19 miles B. 28 miles C. 38 miles D. 113 miles
A bicycle trail in the shape of a circle has a diameter of 3 miles. Michelle biked around the trail 4 times. About how far did Michelle bike? A. 19 miles B. 28 miles C. 38 miles D. 113 miles

16 Next Steps: Go to your DBA and write down something you learned from the online lesson. Be sure to write that you attended the live lesson, and include today’s date. (Write your response in a complete sentence for full credit) Go to your Enrichment Assignments (found on the bottom of your workload) and click on one of those. Write in the student comments box that you attended the Module 5 online review, include today’s date and you can submit that too.

17 Important Information:
When the lengths of two sides and the angle between them is given, only one unique triangle can be formed. When the sum of the angles is not 180°, no triangle can be formed. The sum of the angles in a triangle is exactly 180°.  In a triangle, the sum of any two side lengths must be greater than the length of the third side. A scale factor larger than 1 will scale an item up to larger dimensions.  A scale factor smaller than 1 will scale an item down to smaller dimensions. The formula relating the circumference to the diameter is: C = πd. The formula relating the circumference to the radius is: C = 2πr. The formula for the area of a circle is: A = πr2. In a prism: Cross sections parallel to the base take the shape of the base. Cross sections perpendicular to the base take the shape of the side face. Cross sections at a diagonal to the base make a parallelogram.

18 Tina described four triangles as shown below: Triangle A: All sides have length 12 cm. Triangle B: Two sides have length 10 cm, and the included angle measures 60°. Triangle C: Base has length 15 cm, and base angles measure 40°. Triangle D: All angles measure 60°.  Which triangle is not a unique triangle?
