Small businesses (family owned)
Trading natural resources to other industrialized countries

4. 1st Natural Resources
USA so large they have an abundance of natural resources needed for a country to industrialize.
Oil
Iron
Coal
Land
Water (rivers)
Gold, silver
Forest (timber)
United States used oil, coal, and timber as fuel to run factories.
Land and water provided a way to transport these natural resources to the factories in the cities.

5. 2nd Immigrants- Workers
Came for jobs
Most lived in cities
Took any job = low paying
Worked in factories, mining, building buildings, building railroads, as servants
China
Italians
Greeks
Poles (Poland)
Russians
Armenians
With the increase immigrants , Americans began to feel nativism (preference to native born people)

7. 3rd Technological Advancements
Telephone
Electricity
Ice machine (refrigerator)
Railroad
Effect
Communication improved
Business stayed open later, more products were created
Fragile products no longer spoiled, could travel longer distances
United the country, cut the cost of transporting products and increased speed of delivery

8. Effect: US Becomes an industrialized nation

Created too many products that could not be sold in USA
The United states began to sell/trade their surplus of products to other countries
USA becomes a world wide industrial power
