Hitler became Chancellor of Germany in 1933 As “Der Fuerher” (The Leader) he began to rebuild the economy through the military He also began changing laws to persecute the Jewish people He also began to build the concentration camp system, which held political and religious “undesirables”

8 Film – swing kids Brief Background – Remember the fun of the Roaring 20s? That music and the same fashion and dances made their way across the Atlantic and caught on with European youth as easily as it did in North America. With the racist and anti-Semitic views of Hitler- controlled Europe the youth had to hide their love of jazz and swing music, and as the Hitler Youth movement gained momentum many of those same teens often had difficult choices to make.
