Discount and Sale Price Sometimes stores have SALES and discount the price of the products they sell. The discount is usually a percentage of the original price. The discount is the amount of money you save and is subtracted from the original price. The sale price is the new price of the item after the discount has been deducted. For example: Find the discount and sale price for a $460 lawn mower with a discount of 35% Step 1 Step 2: NOTE! You can also use combinations or proportions to find the amount of discount. Then subtract it from the regular price to find the sale price. Multiply the price by the rate of the discount (change the percent to a decimal first!) Round the discount to the nearest penny. Subtract the discount from the regular price to find the new sale price.
