Celebrate Freedom-Texas Constitution v. U.S. Constitution Compare and Contrast specific provisions of the U.S. and Texas Constitutions. One civil and one criminal. Judges are elected. Contains no specific provision for a right to education. The 6th constitution since Independence. Has over 100,000 words. Supreme Court justices appointed for life. The Chief Executive is chosen by the Electoral College. Has been amended 27 times. 5th and 14th amendments provide for due process of law Amendment against sale & consumption of alcohol. Later repealed. Legislature meets in odd numbered years for 140 days. Protects citizens from acts of gov. through due course of law. Framers moved to write new constitution after Reconstruction Chief Executive elected by the voters for a four year term. Has over 7,000 words.
