8. ORANGE SHIRT DAY
Why should it matter to people who didn’t attend residential school?
IT MATTERS because the Residential School System is one of the major causes of poverty and homelessness among Indigenous peoples in Canada.
IT MATTERS because we share this land. We may not be responsible for what happened in the past, be we are all responsible for our actions today.
Help us remember the thousands First Nations, Inuit and Metis children who were taken away from their families and sent to Residential Schools where they were not allowed to speak their own language or practice their own traditions and beliefs.
Every child matters - Wear an ORANGE SHIRT Monday Oct. 1.

9. Second Recess Wellness Break
Grades 5 to 8 students are welcome to come to the library for 2nd recess to have some QUIET down time.
The Wellness Break will allow you to settle into a quiet corner in the library to read a book, do some drawing or some quiet, independent activity.
No talking, chatting, doing homework, or technology allowed.

10. Cross Country Running
Our cross country team would like to thank Mr. Bax and Mrs. Ottewell for their continuous support of extra curricular activities. We would also like to thank Mrs. Hesselink, Mrs. Cavill, Mrs. Fuller, Ms. Reid, Mrs. Liotta, Madame Blake, Mr. Fox and Mrs. Steeves for their efforts. Without all these volunteers cross country would not be possible. Thanks again everyone. There will be a very important cross country meeting today at 10:40 in the gym. Everyone must attend.

Today’s the day! OUR TERRY FOX RUN! We will meet on the South Yard at 1:40 after attendance. Below is an inspirational message from Fred Fox, Terry’s brother:

**All grade 5 Terry Fox helpers are to meet Ms. Campbell at 10:40 this morning, we are going to do a ‘practise’ walk on our Terry Fox Run path! Wear your outdoor shoes!

12. On Friday, September 28th, Primary Dance club will meet in the gym for the second part of second break, 1:20-1:40. This is for grades 1-3
Wear your indoor shoes and bring your best dance moves!

13. A Huge Thank you!
The kindergarten team would like to thank all the grade 4 and 5 friends that have come out to sign up for kindergarten helpers! We would also like to thank all those who have previously signed up and have consistently come out to help as well! The teachers and the kindergartens truly appreciate your help!
