1 Higher order questions
Lesson Topic(s): Math 2nd Grade Week of: February 18-22 Objectives: Students will classify, sort, compose, decompose, and create two dimensional shapes and three dimensional solids. TEKS: 2.8C classify/sort polygons; 2.8.B-classify/sort 3D solids;2.1.A-apply2.1.C-select tools; 2.1.E-create;2.1.F-analyze; 2.1.G-explain; ELPS: 2.D.1/3.D.2/4.F.1/4.F.8/2.E3/3.D2/3.F.1/2.I.4/3.H.3 Essential Question(s): How can I identify faces, edges, and vertices of a 3D shape? Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday Lesson Plan Lesson 14.6 Sort two dimensional shapes Module 14 Assessment 15.1 Three dimensional solids Tier 1 lesson practice, small group activities and enrichment pages. Vocabulary/ELPS Side Vertex vertices Hexagon ELPS: model concepts Quadrilateral Two dimensional Pentagon Octagon Polygon Triangle rectangle ELPS: describe; verbalize Cone Cube Cylinder Rect.prism Sphere Tri. prism ELPS: manipulatives/peer interaction Higher order questions How can you use attributes to sort two dimensional shapes? How can I identify two dimensional shapes? What objects match three dimensional shapes? Describe the difference between 2D and 3D shapes. Assessment Strategy Students will sort two dimensional shapes by number of sides and vertices. Students will identify and draw two dimensional shaped using number of sides and vertices. Students will identify three dimensional solids by name and shape. Students will do RTI as needed to reinforce skills.
