2. Why shall we standardise?

Cost savings during construction:
Quantity discount,
Compatibility between items,
Faster installation and commissioning from higher competence & efficiency of ESS technical teams
Cost savings during exploitation:
Need for less spares and specific tools,
Smaller support teams and/or cheaper industrial contracts from easier maintenance and update
Standardising is in the long term interest of the organisation and its partners

3. Progress in standardization (1/2)
Creation of reference document ESS listing all applicable standards, handbooks and guidelines - Release in February 2017 with further updates whenever necessary.

Scripting of standard component data in progress to enter a large portion of preferred/approved components in the library.

4. Progress in standardization (2/2)
First agreement for joint procurement of Vacuum components signed on 6 January 2017 by CEA, STFC and ESS.
Planning of procurement procedure (conducted by ESS)
