3 Exposition Term used to describe events at the beginning of a story that set the scene and introduce background, characters, and conflict. The exposition is the starting point of a narrative and can be thought of as the status quo (a.k.a the existing state of affairs), before the complications of the plot begin.

4 Rising Action This part of the story begins to develop the conflict(s). A building of interest or suspense occurs.

5 Climax This is the turning point of the story. Usually the main character comes face to face with a conflict. The main character will change in some way.

6 Falling Action All loose ends of the plot are tied up. The conflict(s) and climax are taken care of.

7 Resolution and denouement
The story comes to a reasonable ending. The final part of a play, movie, or narrative in which the strands of the plot are drawn together and matters are explained or resolved.

9 Choreographic Device Abstracting a Gesture
Take the base movement phrase and break apart each gesture and make the movement grow and change by extending the movement into the space at a greater value.

10 Choreographic Device Vary the Energy
Take the series of movement and add different levels of force and effort to represent the emotions being constructed in the story. Weight Stillness Soft Light Force Resistance Effort Tension
