3 I have a tendency to talk too much, how do …?
What are my strengths / weaknesses? What are your strengths? It is very unlikely that you will be asked this question outright like this? Many interviewers will ask you competence based questions? E.g. give me an example when you successfully planned a project? Won business? Developed relationship with x client? Or they may even say Why should we hire you? What are your weaknesses? As above but turn it into a positive so if the project didn’t complete on time, what did you do to minimise the problems and what did you learn for next time e.g I learnt to put in x, y and z processes in place so since that project I have never had the problem again. I have a tendency to talk too much – follow our tips – focus on what are the main competencies the job spec is asking and answer them – look out for interviewers body language! How to sell myself? Why you are doing it…. •    Your strengths align with the company / depts / teams needs •    You can do the job and are the best person for the job •    You have qualities, skills, and/or experience that set you apart from your competition •    You are someone who will make an excellent addition to the teamf

9 Create chunks of content!
Instead of saying I am a great communications manager – say I’ve been published by X and Y publication, increased social media outreach by x% and was short-listed for x award. Or you could even say in my last appraisal, my manager said x, y and z STAR technique – set out the Situation or Task / specific Actions taken ie what you say and do to reach x situation or task and the results or changes that were made by taking these actions Be prepared to back up your examples and statements with facts "My plan decreased product-delivery times by 12% without costing the company any money."

Make sure the examples are most relevant for the position applying e.g.Sales Manager e.g. Top Line - In my current role, I have built a great team grown from 4 to 25 over the last two years. I’m proud to say that my team has been acknowledged as the most productive group in the division, x sales. Now my bosses send young managers to me to mentor!

What kind of leader are you? Tell us about yourself? Challenge People person? I not WE Caroline – insights on this … you should know from the CV what kind of questions are going to be asked The job spec will help with the stories and identify the main competencies that will be tested. Practice, Practice, Practice.
