Pilgrims returned to England from the Netherlands. They won a charter to set up a colony in Va.

Founded by Puritans in 1630 Came because they wanted to purify/reform the Church of England. They wanted to create “A city upon a Hill.”

27 Anne Hutchinson Puritan who had discussion meetings after Minister’s sermons, questioning church’s teachings She told the court that God spoke directly to her.
