2 Concept Co-operative effort to clean up the City
Volunteers offer their time The City offers its support Cleaning up sidewalk areas, public spaces, but not private property When citizens see the volunteers, we hope they will stop littering Rod : explain about coming to Cornwall and why wanted the program here. So took idea to MEAC which has endorsed the principles, other cities doing it, got info from their websites, not re-inventing the wheel

3 Key Rules Volunteers must be residents or members of a local organization Volunteers must attend a training/safety session Volunteers must sign a waiver of liability form Volunteers will participate for one full season Litter collected will either be placed in City trash containers or taken home to be put out on normal collection day Volunteers will avoid touching any dangerous materials Marie-Paul – indicate they have the full rules in their package

4 Application Form This form contains:
Name, address, contact information and emergency contact information, Choice of area to pick up litter. Denis to do – in their package, copied from which city

5 Risk, Waiver and Indemnity Agreement
This form contains: Confirmation of being 18 years or older Agreement to wear appropriate clothing and footwear when picking up litter Willingness to accept and assume all dangers, risks and hazards associated with the Program Willingness to sign waiver of claims, release of liability and indemnity agreement Denis – check their package , also copied from xxx cit’s website

6 Requests to the City Offer a safety session to all volunteers
Provide Application forms and Risk, Waiver and Indemnity forms Supply volunteers with gloves, reflective bibs, litter-picker tongs and garbage bags Designate a coordinator to work with the MEAC sub-committee on the Program Place all information including forms about the Program on the City’s website and in its other publications Rod synergies with Clean up Week

7 Next Steps Council endorsement
Coordination with City Staff (Environmental Services, Parks, Engineering) Acquisition of equipment eg safety vests, litter-picker tongs Program promotion – website, social media Recruitment and training of Volunteers
