PT-WFD - The self committed Network of PT providers
Final EAQC-WISE Workshop: (deliverable for work package 1, task 1.1) Paris, October 22nd 2008 Ulrich Borchers, Roberto Morabito
2
Disclaimer EAQC-WISE is an EC FP6 funded project
Contract N° (STREP) The views expressed in this presentation are purely those of the author and may not in any circumstances be regarded as stating an official position of the European Commission
3
FRAME OF THE NETWORK The implementation of the WFD requires the design of monitoring programmes ensuring the reliability and comparability of monitoring data The pending QA/QC Commission Directive requires that monitoring laboratories demonstrate their competence by participation in PT programmes covering all measurands at levels of concentrations representative for WFD
4
DATE OF FOUNDATION The official birth of the Network PT-WFD was celebrated in Rome, ENEA Central building, on 8th October 2008
5
MISSION OF THE NETWORK Providing harmonised PT schemes
that meet the specific requirements of the WFD Performed and evaluated harmonised and comparable Harmonized performance evaluation of European labs involved in WFD monitoring analysis Organisation of Pan-European PTs for analytes that are analysed only by few labs Economically sound organisation of PT schemes due to synergy effects with other PT providers Regular scientific input from external advisors Combined forces on new developments and gaps in the spectrum of needed WFD PT schemes
6
ESSENTIAL FEATURES Harmonisation and ensuring a high quality of PTs
Operation in accordance with ISO/IEC Guide 43 (ISO/IEC 17043) Evaluation of data according to ISO 13528 High quality and fitness of PT samples for WFD Matrix, typology and concentration level of analytes adapted to WFD requirements Common criteria for definition of assigned values definition of the standard deviation for performance assessment (SDPA) assessment of laboratory performance on the basis of z-scores
