2 Learning Targets Students will be able to compare and contrast different visual features of insects and arachnids through discussion ( Analyze, Comprehend 1.1) Students will be able to comprehend the different parts of a insect and be able to point it out on a picture (Comprehend, Comprehend, N/A) Students can use descriptive words to discuss characteristics of certain insects ( Evaluate, Reflect, 2.1) Students can create their own insect using a paper cutout. (Create, Create, 3.1) Students can personally connect to their creation by making the insect unique and have a purpose for the creator

19 You will be creating an insect…
Will it be an INSECT or ARACHNID? How can you make it look like one or the other? What ENVIRONMENT will it have to deal with? What will it EAT? Who could eat it? How can you protect your insect? What COLORS will it be? TEXTURE?

20 Choose a body ( thorax and abdomen)
Cut out the body of your choice. Glue body down with a glue stick Try to glue it right in the center in order for you to use up the rest of the space!

2 antennae OR Palps 6 legs/8 legs spots, designs, camouflage or bright colors…what do you decide? Is it a flying insect? Does it only have two wings, or four wings? Where does it live?

31 Today we will… Create the black outline of our stained glass insect! Using the insect you drew last week, you will be recreating it through a cut out. Then you will choose warm or cool colors for the background tissue paper!
