6. Current status of the project (1)

Analyse the current system
(Identify the current situation of Romanian higher education system in order to establish the optimal strategy for developing and implementing an integrated IT system, at the national level)

Aim: Identifying the level of the resources and practices used at institutional level for the management of the students’ data
Action: A questionnaire based survey was applied for 70 universities (49 public universities, 7 military universities and 14 private universities) and the results were analysed at primary level.

Aim: Identifying and analysing the experience and the best practices examples at the international level and the students’ perception
Actions: Analyse of the best practice examples at the international level (Clearing House, USA; HESA, UK; SIMS, Czech Republic)

Specify in detail the requirements of the information system
(based on current status analysis specifications, including also the specifications for administrative use)
Aim:
Definition of the main specifications of the integrated IT system, the model and the administrative requests needed for its implementation; elaboration of the technical documentation needed for the electronic application

Developing a first set of data that will be used by the integrated IT system based on the preliminary results from current system analysis (all- nation institutional level)
Proposing the architecture models and the functionalities of the RMU system

Develop the integrated information system
Aim:
Developing the integrated IT system, at national level, with participation of higher education institutions
Actions:
Developing the electronic application for the national integrated IT system for the management of the students’ data.
Elaborating the basic reports of the system with the collaboration of the key university centers.
Implementation of all the facilities of the system and connecting the participant universities.
National conference to disseminate the results and introduce the system

10. Project output
A durable and practical "IT product", which offers the possibility to develop an integrated database that will include a set of relevant information of the current and future participants in Romanian Higher Education, focused on student dynamics

Development of an important instrument for the management and quality assurance in higher education
• Increasing competitiveness of Romanian HES
Increasing the relevance of higher education for the labor market and the knowledge-based society
Facilitating the management process and the real-time reporting based on information from higher education institutions
