Have students make a list of everything they see in the painting. This is citing text evidence, but this time the “text” is a painting. An inference is when we draw a logical conclusion based on details in a text. What can we infer about the artist’s view of the Fall of Icarus based on the details in the painting.

What do the painting and the poem have to say about the fall of Icarus? What can we infer about the artists’ feelings toward/ about Icarus?
