1 Wednesday, January 13, 2016 Homework: None Your objective:
Students will work together to determine if they could survive a crash landing on the moon. Table of Contents: NASA Crash Landing - 2R Do-Now (2L): What are some of the ways we can come to an agreement when group members disagree? Homework: None Agenda: Do-Now Crash Landing Reflection

4 Try to listen to everyone’s opinions and reasons
Try to listen to everyone’s opinions and reasons. Be open to ideas that are different from your own and look for ways that those ideas may complement yours. Do not assume that someone must win and someone must lose. Do not change your mind simply to avoid conflict and to reach agreement. Explore the reasons and be sure everyone accepts the solution for the same reasons. All decisions must be based on logic and reasoning. Do not expect to get your way later because you agreed with someone’s idea now. Involve everyone in the decision process.

5 The Problem: You are part of a space crew originally scheduled to rendezvous (meet up) with a mother ship on the lighted surface of the moon. Mechanical difficulties, however, have forced your ship to crash-land at a spot some 200 miles from the rendezvous point.

6 Do-Now /13/16 Q: What are some of the ways we can come to an agreement when group members disagree? A: NASA Crash Landing 1/13/16 Rendezvous: Mechanical: 2L 2R

7 The Problem: The rough landing has damaged much of the equipment aboard the ship. Since survival depends on reaching the mother ship, the most critical items available must be chosen for the 200-mile trip.

8 Do-Now /13/16 Q: What are some of the ways we can come to an agreement when group members disagree? A: NASA Crash Landing 1/13/16 Rendezvous: Mechanical: Depends: Critical: 2L 2R

9 Directions: Read through the list of items
In the first column record your rankings. 1 – most important, 15 - least

10 Thursday, November 20, 2013 Do-Now (29L): Explain why you chose your top three choices and your bottom three choices. Homework: None Agenda: Do-Now Crash Landing Reflection 10

11 Directions: Record the other team members ranks.

12 Directions: Record the other team members ranks.
As a team, decide what to rank each item Record your Team ranking in the second column

13 Directions: From the handout in the sheet protector, what did NASA rank these items?

14 Directions: Calculate Difference Between NASA and Group by subtracting NASA’s ranking from your group rank – it should be a positive number

15 Directions: Calculate Difference Between My Rank and NASA by subtracting NASA’s ranking from your ranking – it should be a positive number

16 Reflection: (2L) Did your top three choices differ from NASA’s?
Would you still rank yours the same after learning what NASA ranks theirs?

18 Thursday, January 14, 2016 Do-Now (2L): Which of your totals were higher: difference between group and NASA or difference between my rank and NASA? Homework: None Agenda: Do-Now Crash Landing Reflection 18
