1 A prospective study of early pregnancy loss in humans
Virginia J. Vitzthum, Ph.D., Hilde Spielvogel, M.D., Jonathan Thornburg, Ph.D., Brady West, M.A.  Fertility and Sterility  Volume 86, Issue 2, Pages (August 2006) DOI: /j.fertnstert Copyright © 2006 American Society for Reproductive Medicine Terms and Conditions

2 FIGURE 1 Progesterone levels before and after ovulation (day 0) in naturally occurring conception and nonconception cycles. Panels A and B plot the daily geometric mean of observed P values. Preovulatory P was significantly higher in the sample of conceptions lost early (EPL) compared with those pregnancies persisting for at least 5 weeks after conception (Panel A) and compared to nonconception ovulatory cycles (Panel B). Panel C plots the daily geometric mean of P expressed as a percentage of the average midfollicular P level in the same cycle. Postovulatory standardized P is significantly lower in EPL than in sustained conceptions. Vitzthum. Progesterone in early pregnancy loss. Fertil Steril 2006.
