Chemistry of carbon compounds Originally term described chemistry of compounds in life. However, what is life?? Martin Hanczyc suggests that there is a fine line between life and not-life Important chemicals of living organisms organic – carbohydrates, proteins, nucleic acids, vitamins, hormones, etc. Organic compounds isolated from nature or synthesized has many H atoms may also contain O, S, N, P, and halogens
