3 What is does school violence mean in the United States?
It is a major public health issue for both individuals and communities. Each year, more than 5,000 youths between the ages of 15 and 24 die by homicide, making homicide the second leading cause of death for this age group. Use the following worksheet to record your work. 4 Did your definition match?
It is a social problem that affects many people in various ways. Behavior involving physical force intended to hurt, damage or kill someone. Some synonyms include ferocity, cruelty, barbarity, sadism and brutality. It takes different forms: family violence, peer group violence, community violence and, hate crimes. School Violence leads to violent crimes out of school.

5 Let's review school violence
Examples of violence are; bullying, fighting, weapon use, electronic aggression and, gang violence. School violence occurs on; school property, the way to or from school and/or on the way to or from a school sponsored event.

7 Data of Violence in Schools
5.4% percent of students in grades 9-12th reported carrying a weapon ( gun, knife or club) to school. 7.4 percent of students in grades 9-12th reported being injured in school. During the school year there were 17 homicides of students ages 5-18 in schools. In 2010, there were 820,000 nonfatal victimization at school among years old.
