16 Writing a reflection Select: What are you reflecting on – workshop, supervisor meeting, aspects of your case study? You don’t necessarily have to reflect on the entirety of something. You can choose certain aspects. Describe: This step involves a description of the circumstances, situation or issues related to what has been selected. Four "W" questions are usually addressed: Who was involved? What were the circumstances, concerns, or issues? When did the event occur? Where did the event occur? Analyze: This step involves "digging deeper." The "Why" of what has been selected and the "How" of its relationship to your career pathway should be addressed. Appraise: In the previous three steps, you have described and analysed a workshop, a meeting with your supervisor or an experience. The actual self-assessment occurs at this stage as you interpret the activity or evidence and evaluate its appropriateness and impact (career pathway – think of your goals). Transform: This step holds the greatest opportunity for growth as you use the insights gained from reflection in improving and transforming your practice. What did you learn? What will you keep do the same? What will you change?

20 Opportunity As part of the preparation process in Semester 1 we have an opportunity for you to provide some initial support to three of the University’s sport scholars 2 high level weightlifters and a squash player): The task Deliver education workshops in areas of sport science related to their sport This will be in the form of a podcast / vodcast / narrated Powerpoint / Panopto presentation. Please forward me your suggestions via for these workshops
