6 Estimation of Wall-Plug Power for RF System

7 Possibility of MBK Fabrication in Korea
Tube related capabilities in Korea: PAL have full capabilities for providing pulsed 80-MW S-band RF system. KAPRA is developing CW 1-MW 700-MHz Klystron for PEFP proton linac. There are considerable activities in Universities (SNU, POSTECH,…). In-house tube R&D can be performed but not recommended. Localization of tube design followed by the acquisition of fabrication drawings (if possible !) would be the right choice for fast fabrication. Possible collaboration scheme: PAL-KAPRA for high-power RF technologies and infra-structures. Distributed resources (mainly among Universities) for investigating various physics & engineering isssues.

8 PAL’s Potential for MBK Fabrication
Special facilities for klystron fabrication XHV Baking Station Various Furnaces HP Microwave Test-Lab Infra-Structures Chemical Cleaning Shop, Plating Facility, Welding Shop, 3D CMM,… Magnetic Field Measurement Facilities Full-line of Microwave Equipments High-Quality Manpowers Beam-Dynamics Experts Mechanical Engineers High-Power Electrical Engineers RF Engineers (LL & HL) XHV Experts were involved in the PLS construction, now in the PAL XFEL project Expected Production Rate: ~ 10 tubes/year
