L: Everything You create is wonderfully made with such care. Help us understand our world, P: So we can help take care of the things You have made and keep them beautiful, as You meant them to be.

7 L: God our Creator, continue to bless us as we gather here today, and help us to understand better our promise to be loving and dutiful. P: Continue to teach us to love You more, and to love

8 all Your people, and to do our very best every day. Amen.

9 *HYMN #473 “For the Beauty of the Earth” v.1

12 *HYMN #473 “For the Beauty of the Earth” v.4
For the joy of human love, brother, sister, parent, child, Friends on earth and friends above, for all gentle thoughts and mild, Lord of all, to Thee we raise this our hymn of grateful praise.

13 *HYMN #473 “For the Beauty of the Earth” v.5
For Thy church that evermore lifteth holy hands above, Offering up on every shore her pure sacrifice of love,, Lord of all, to Thee we raise this our hymn of grateful praise.

14 *PRAYER OF CONFESSION (unison)
Dear Lord, we are thankful for all who contribute to shape the hearts, minds, and bodies of young people and each other. Too often we forget what they have taught us, and so we

15 do not apply it daily. We have not always been Trustworthy when facing deceit and dishonesty. We have not always been Helpful when it comes to regarding others. We have often failed to be Curteous.

16 Holy God, we have failed at times to be Kind and Obedient when our world desperately needs that. We ask your strength so while others may grumble and grouch, we will be Cheerful;

17 in an environment filled with waste and extravagance, let us be Thrifty. When life confronts us with danger and temptation, let us be Brave and filled with your love and wisdom.

18 As we see filth and pollution everywhere, let us be Clean
As we see filth and pollution everywhere, let us be Clean. In short, Gracious God, in a world that has for generations lamented a lack of good examples, forgive us for falling into that category,

19 (silence is observed for reflection and prayer)
and help us stand out, grow up, and be real adults. (silence is observed for reflection and prayer)

20 ASSURANCE OF PARDON L: Hear this about God’s great love: God is patient and kind. God does not keep a record of our wrongs. God does not remember our failings at loving, but is happy about every one of our successes.

21 ASSURANCE OF PARDON God never gives up on us because God’s love is forever. Know you are forgiven. P: Now, forgiven, we can be Trustworthy, Honest, Obedient, and Kind. Thanks be to God! Amen.

23 PROCLAIMING THE WORD SCRIPTURE READING: Deuteronomy 10:12-21

24 So now, O Israel, what does the Lord your God require of you
So now, O Israel, what does the Lord your God require of you? Only to fear the Lord your God, to walk in all his ways, to love him, to serve the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul, and to keep the commandments of the Lord your God and his decrees that I am commanding

25 you today, for your own well-being
you today, for your own well-being. Although heaven and the heaven of heavens belong to the Lord your God, the earth with all that is in it, yet the Lord set his heart in love on your ancestors alone and chose you, their descendants after them, out of all peoples, as it is today.

26 Circumcise, then, the foreskin of your heart, and do not be stubborn any longer. For the Lord your God is God of gods and Lord of lords, the great God, mighty and awesome, who is not partial and takes no bribe, who executes justice for the orphan and the widow,

27 and also who loves the strangers, providing them with food and clothing. You shall also love the stranger, for you were strangers in the land of Egypt. You shall fear the Lord your God; him alone you shall worship; to him you shall hold fast, and by his name you shall swear.

28 He is your praise; he is your God, who has done for you these great and awesome things that your own eyes have seen.

29 SCRIPTURE READING: 1 Corinthians 12:31b-13:13

30 And I will show you a still more excellent way
And I will show you a still more excellent way. If I speak in the tongues of mortals and of angels, but do not have love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and knowledge, and if I have faith, so as to move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing.

31 If I give away all my possessions, and if I hand over my body so that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing. Love is patient; love is kind; love is not envious or boastful or arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice in wrongdoing, but rejoices in the truth.

32 It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends. But as for prophecies, they will come to an end; as for tongues, they will cease; as for knowledge, it will come to an end. For we know only in part, and we prophesy only in part; but when the complete comes, the partial will come to an end.

33 When I was a child, I spoke like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child; when I became an adult, I put an end to childish ways. For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then we will see face to face. Now I know only in part; then I will know fully, even as I have been fully known.

34 And now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; and the greatest of these is love. L: This is the Word of the Lord. P: Thanks be to God!
