9 PREHISTORY VOCAB. Prehistory – the period of time before written records, the years before 3000 B.C.

10 Stone Age – earliest known period of human culture, tools were made of stone
Paleolithic Age - “Old Stone Age” – humans as nomadic hunter-gatherers Neolithic Age - “New Stone Age” – humans as settled farmers

11 nomadic – group that has no permanent home; migrates constantly
hunter-gatherers – early humans who moved constantly to follow food sources

12 Neolithic Revolution – the change from hunter-gatherer society to farming (agriculture)

13 sedentary – group of humans who are settled in one area; permanent home
domesticate – to tame & use animals for a purpose
