1 Design Report Submit one report per sub-team
Follow the SE work-term report guidelines Plan to write a report that is pages long, including front matter and not including appendices. Fall 2004

2 Draft Design Report Draft Letter of Submittal
Title page Draft Letter of Submittal Draft Contributions (1/2 to 1 page) - Describe the LegoTracker robot project (i.e., the context of your subteam’s project), and your subteam’s contributions to this project. Draft Table of Contents, List of Figures, List of Tables Fall 2004

3 Draft Design Report Description of one experiment, including table, OR
Draft Introduction (1 page): Intended readership Purpose of the report Summary of tasks reported on Organization of rest of report Background material that the reader needs to know to understand rest of report. Outline of the body of the report Description of one experiment, including table, OR Description of at least two design decisions and rationale Whether or not you include figures is up to you. Don’t include them haphazardly, to fill up space. The question is, do they help you explain your ideas? Anyone thinking of including figures (robot for context, grid to explain move() project). Need to be referenced in the report. Tables are a good way to represent data. Think about whether the data is central to your report’s message or if it should be moved to an appendix. Fall 2004

4 Draft Design Report Draft References - List at least one document, book, web-page that you referred to when working on the project. Fall 2004

5 Final Design Report Write a document that you would want to read:
Document only your subteam’s project; the report should be focussed. Document only major design alternatives and decisions. Document rationale for all major decision decisions. Include final implementation (or reasons why there is no working implementation). Fall 2004

6 Design Report Marking We will be marking reports as carefully as we mark work-term reports. Adhere strictly to the work-report structure and checklist. Check your spelling and grammar. Check that your writing is professional, clear, and focussed. Check that you’ve documented all major design alternatives, decisions, and rationale. Fall 2004
