2 November 2008 PAR Comments Received from RF stands for Radio Frequencies, as an acronym, you should spell it out on first usage in 5.5 purpose. Why call out RF interference when you state that the band in use is outside the RF band? Visible light is free of non-visible interference, but that should not be used in the definition of the scope and purpose. The Scope and Purpose should deal specifically with the stated spectrum and not counter examples. All the semicolons in the scope statement should be commas. Have you considered the Mirror in the Middle attack?  EunTae Won, Samsung

3 November 2008 PAR Comments Received from "Ronald Petersen" Please explain "health" in the following phrase in the Scope:  "...impairments due to noise and interference from, e.g., ambient light; health and other environmental effects:... EunTae Won, Samsung

4 November 2008 PAR Comments Received from Paul Nikilich Is it possible to assign values to the qualitative descriptions "short range" (e.g. a max range of 10m), "data rates to support audio and video multimedia services" (e.g. a max data rate of 1Gbps) and "mobility" (a max speed of 1m/s)?  Once again, my objective is to remove ambiguity from the PAR and then quicker progress is possible. Response: Range in a wireless context is difficult to quantify in other than the broad terms. In terms of primary application, the intent here is “not long range” as in multiple kilometers. Work would focus on communications achievable with typical light sources which inherently limit the typical achievable range. Having said that someone could use a laser source and get significant ranges. Similarly upper limits on data rates and mobility are arbitrary. EunTae Won, Samsung

5 November 2008 PAR Comments Received from 802.3 The PAR scope is deficient in that it does not address the medium.  This should not be addressed only in the PAR Purpose. Please include within the project documents a commitment to include a PICS proforma in the initial version of the standard. EunTae Won, Samsung
