2 Daniel chapter 2 Questions and Answers
1. Dan. 2:4, the original texts changes from Hebrew to the Syriach (Aramaic) language. Give the chapter and verse in Daniel where it changes back to Hebrew. Find out what other Bible texts that were first written in Aramaic. Daniel 2:4 through Daniel 7:28 were first written in Aramaic. All other parts of the book were first written in Hebrew. Part of Ezra and Jeremiah 10:11 were first written in Aramaic.

3 Daniel chapter 2 Questions and Answers
2. What is the meaning in verse 9, "till the time be changed"? This implies when a new king was on the throne.

3. Verse 31, why is the form of the image described as "terrible"? This word gives insight into what these empires were like and the fear they caused in living under them. This is verified by history and in looking up the original word, “terrible” (1763 Aramaic {dah-khal'}, AV - fear 2, dreadful 2, terrible 1, afraid 1).

4. The metals of the image lessen in specific gravity. What does this show about the image? It shows that the image was top heavy and therefore unstable. When Christ returns and the image stands upon its feet, it is hit by the Christ stone, and will come crashing down.

6 Daniel chapter 2 Questions/ Answers
What is the meaning of a stone being "cut out of a mountain without hands? (See v. 34) Daniel2:34 Thou sawest till that a stone was cut out without hands, which smote the image upon his feet that were of iron and clay, and brake them to pieces. This shows divine origin, that the stone was removed from the human “mountain” by God and not by man's hands. Christ arose under the Roman mountain (government) and ascended to heaven. He will return and smite this image upon its feet. MAT 21:42 Jesus saith unto them, Did ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner: this is the Lord's doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes? MAT 21:44 And whosoever shall fall on this stone shall be broken: but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder. Daniel2:35 Then was the iron, the clay, the brass, the silver, and the gold, broken to pieces together, and became like the chaff of the summer threshingfloors; and the wind carried them away, that no place was found for them: and the stone that smote the image became a great mountain, and filled the whole earth.

6. Verse 35 says that the image is "broken to pieces together". What does this show is yet to happen? History shows these empires are destroyed and replaced by the one following. Therefore, if the image is to be destroyed "together", in the latter days, all of these kingdoms must exist "together” to make up this image. This interpretation is further supported by v.45 when it says that the stone breaks in pieces the iron, brass, clay, silver and gold. Therefore, they all must exist together, to be ground to power together by the stone. "together" is key to this interpretation and comes from the Aramaic word “chad” {khad} AV - one 5, first 4, a 4, together 1; 14 (NIV) Dan. 2:35 Then the iron, the clay, the bronze, the silver and the gold were broken to pieces at the same time and became like chaff on a threshing floor in the summer. The wind swept them away without leaving a trace. But the rock that struck the statue became a huge mountain and filled the whole earth.

7. Dan. 2:39, in what way was the Medo-Persian empire "inferior" to the Babylonian empire? Daniel2:39 And after thee shall arise another kingdom inferior to thee, and another third kingdom of brass, which shall bear rule over all the earth. The power of their leader. Daniel was speaking to Nebuchadnezzar who had absolute power and authority. The Medo-Persian rulers were subject to the law of the Medes and Persians, i.e. Dan 6:14-16.

8. In what way could it be said that the third kingdom bore rule over all the earth? Daniel2:39 And after thee shall arise another kingdom inferior to thee, and another third kingdom of brass, which shall bear rule over all the earth. The answer is seen in the words "all" and "rule” which must be interpreted within the contest of Scripture. For example in LUK 2:1 “And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be taxed.” The context was Israel in the Old Testament and the ecclesia in the New Testament. The Roman world here controlled and taxed Israel. China would be outside the context of Luke 2:1. "rule" 7981 "she-let": "have the mastery, have power ...". The answer is that no people could rise up and oppose these empires, for God had given them this power to have mastery. According to legend, the young man Alexander the Great "wept because there were no more worlds to conquer."

9. Why do you think that Daniel was given the dream and its interpretation, when many other people do not receive direct answers to their prayers? (Dan. 2:19) Daniel2:19 Then was the secret revealed unto Daniel in a night vision. Then Daniel blessed the God of heaven. First this was under the past age of the Old Testament. Next there are at least 3 clear examples in scripture, Joseph, Samuel, Daniel, where a child chose early in life to serve God and God chose to reveal Himself more directly to that child. This was through angels, visions dreams and prophets. In our age there is no open vision because the completed Bible gives the vision and direction for faith is developed through reading and hearing God’s word.

11 Daniel chapter 2 Questions and Answers
10. Who are the "kings" in verse 44 and when will this take place? Dan 2:44 And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever. The kings are the leaders and the time is when God will set up His kingdom which we pray for in the Lord's prayer, (Mat. 6:10). These kings are part of the image who will be deceived by a strong delusion and see Jesus as the Antichrist. They will cause the kingdoms of the image to stand up against Jesus after he returns to established the Kingdom of God on earth.
