The pronouns who and whom are sometimes confusing to students. We know that who is used as a subject, and whom is used as an object. Following these steps will help you to decide which form to use.                      

2 a. Isolate the clause which contains who or whom.
 ex:   The man (who, whom) she thought was perfect jilted her. a. Isolate the clause which contains who or whom.     (who, whom) was perfect

3 he was perfect or him was perfect
 b. Substitute the word he for who and him for whom. he was perfect  or  him was perfect

4   c. Since he was perfect makes sense, you would use who.

5 1. (Who, Whom) should I call in case of emergency?
d. Sometimes you will have to rearrange the clause into normal word order as in #1. ex:   I should call (who, whom)....     I should call him.....thus, whom is correct in the first sentence.   

6 2.Who, Whom) left the dirty clothes on the washer?
