1 11.7 Volume of Pyramids and Cones
Mrs. vazquez Geometry

2 g-gmd.1.1, 1.3 ; g-mg.1.3 Essential Question:
How do the volumes of cones and pyramids compare? Objective: Students will be able to calculate volume of pyramids and cones.

3 theorems Volume of a Pyramid: The volume of a pyramid is
V = ⅓Bh, where B is the area of a base & h is the height. Volume of a Cone: The volume of a cone is V = ⅓Bh = ⅓(πr2)h, where B is the area of a base, h is the height, & r is the radius of the base.

4 Solve A right cylinder with radius 3cm & height 10cm has a right cone on top of it with the same base & height 5cm. Find the volume of the solid rounded to the hundredth place value.

5 Find volume h = 5.8in ∡formed by r & slant height = 40o

6 Find h The volume of a right cone is 1350π m3 & the radius is 18m.
