Membership-when community members feel they have a personal investment in the community and a sense of belonging.

What constitutes influence? How would we know the degree to which students have influence (particularly those who have not felt this sense of influence due to historical marginalization and disenfranchisement? What would it look like in our community? What would it feel like?

Mutual fulfillment gained from shared values, a satisfaction of needs, and exchange of resources (Horizontal relationship).
…If you need help they try their best to help you. If they can’t they get somebody that can help… I feel like they love me. But yeah, I feel like they care… (Male, High School).

Shared dramatic moments, celebrations, and rituals.

Each morning we are engaged in introductions and the sharing of various facts about ourselves, where we want to live, visit, or inspirational quotes that inspire us. [The program] has this hominess about it, the “we are all family” feeling.
