Do Now Get out your weekly Bell Ringer sheet and begin working on Friday’s assignment. Once the bell rings, you will have five minutes to find and label the examples of figurative language. Remember: Do Now's are INDEPENDENT and QUIET exercises. Thank you 

© Presto Plans Read the paragraph below and find examples of metaphor, simile, onomatopoeia, personification, oxymoron and/or alliteration. The marker shook like a leaf as Angela wrote her name on the board in the front of the room. She had spent a stressful yet successful year in school studying education, but this was her first day as a student teacher. This school was not her first choice, but when the opportunity knocked at her door, she decided to answer. The ding of the bell indicated the start of class, and her students were a pack of wolves when they came into the room. She immediately knew this class was going to be a challenge, so her only choice would be to use tough love. She introduced herself politely but laid down the rules immediately.

Listen as I read through Anne Bradstreet’s poem. After we read, respond to questions 1-8 on your paper. Be sure to fully explain your answers when necessary 

Next, your job is to write your own poem using Bradstreet’s poem as inspiration. You poem must: Have at lest ten lines and use rhymed couplets (AA BB CC etc.) (10 points) Have eight syllables per line (10 points) Focus on your favorite items (10 points) 30 points total!
