4. Eco Fact of the Week
Most students love to get ice cold drinks from the vending machines during lunch time; however, we don’t realize the energy costs that go into maintaining such devices. Refrigerated vending machines run 24/7, causing excessive energy use ( kWh). Furthermore, these machines cost around $250 to $440 a year to maintain. Vending machines with improved lighting panels and energy star certification help to reduce energy costs. While students may not be able to improve the efficiency of these machines, it is important that we understand the significance of energy conservation and preventing wasteful expenditures.

11. Rhetoric Rhetoric: Close Reading: Rhetorical Analysis:
The traditional definition of rhetoric, first proposed by Aristotle, and embellished over the centuries by scholars and teachers, is that rhetoric is the art of observing in any given case the “available means of persuasion.”
Close Reading:
Reading to “develop an understanding of a text that is based first on the words themselves and then on the larger ideas those words suggest.”
Rhetorical Analysis:
Defining an author’s purpose, then identifying and analyzing the techniques and strategies employed to achieve that purpose.
