1 7 The Mature Christian Seeks Righteousness by Faith Part 2 Philippians 3:7-21

2 In Philippians 3:7-21 Paul will:
Proclaim Explain Use

3 Law-Keeping to Produce Righteousness Never Succeeds:
Humans cannot keep the Law

4 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
- Romans 3:23

5 10 as it is written, “There is none righteous, not even one;
11 There is none who understands, There is none who seeks for God; - Romans 3:10-11

6 Law-Keeping to Produce Righteousness Never Succeeds:
Humans cannot keep the Law The Law was given to reveal sin and its consequences

7 19 Now we know that whatever the Law says, it speaks to those who are under the Law, so that every mouth may be closed and all the world may become accountable to God; 20 because by the works of the Law no flesh will be justified in His sight; for through the Law comes the knowledge of sin. - Romans 3:19-20

8 But whatever things were gain to me, those things I have counted as loss for the sake of Christ.
- Philippians 3:7

9 More than that, I count all things to be loss in view of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them but rubbish so that I may gain Christ, - Philippians 3:8

10 FORMER RICHES CHRIST

11 and may be found in Him, not having a righteousness of my own derived from the Law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which comes from God on the basis of faith, - Philippians 3:9

12 that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death; - Philippians 3:10

13 “If He’s an Apostle sent from God, what is he doing in prison
“If He’s an Apostle sent from God, what is he doing in prison?” - Judaizers

14 “Could/would the Judaizers sacrifice as much as Paul sacrificed for their teachings?” - Paul

15 Not that I have already obtained it or have already become perfect, but I press on so that I may lay hold of that for which also I was laid hold of by Christ Jesus. - Philippians 3:12

16 in order that I may attain to the resurrection from the dead.
- Philippians 3:11

17 50 Now I say this, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable. 51 Behold, I tell you a mystery; we will not all sleep, but we will all be changed, - I Corinthians 15:50-51

18 52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet; for the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed. 53 For this perishable must put on the imperishable, and this mortal must put on immortality. - I Corinthians 15:52-53

19 13 Brethren, I do not regard myself as having laid hold of it yet; but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead, 14 I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. - Philippians 3:13-14

20 15 Let us therefore, as many as are perfect, have this attitude; and if in anything you have a different attitude, God will reveal that also to you; 16 however, let us keep living by that same standard to which we have attained. - Philippians 3:15-16

21 PAUL’S WARNING 17 Brethren, join in following my example, and observe those who walk according to the pattern you have in us. 18 For many walk, of whom I often told you, and now tell you even weeping, that they are enemies of the cross of Christ, - Philippians 3:17-18

22 whose end is destruction, whose god is their appetite, and whose glory is in their shame, who set their minds on earthly things. - Philippians 3:19
