5 Quiz, Quiz, Trade Read your statement and reflect on it through the lens of SLOs. Find someone with a different statement. Share your connections among SLOs and the statement. Trade statements. Repeat with two partners and then return to your seat.

6 Purpose of SLO The purpose of the Student Learning Objective (SLO) is to shine light on a teacher’s impact on student learning. In the SLO process, teachers collaboratively plan, analyze results, and act on those results (Plan, Do, Study, Act Cycle).

8 What is Success Criteria?
Success criteria are characteristics by which the SLO is crafted and assessed. Success criteria is used to determine quality and viability of the SLO for classroom implementation.

9 What is the Difference Success Criteria Quality Rubric New Old
Qualitative, use of words for feedback only Quantitative and qualitative, use of scores and words for feedback Feedback is from a holistic or broader perspective Scores and feedback were aligned to each element of the SLO Similar SLOs can have individualized feedback Scoring hindered teachers from considering feedback New Old Qualitative vs Quantitative feedback The new feedback process is shifting away from the Quality Rating Rubric ,quantitative feedback to more qualitative feedback. This is necessary to support teacher professional growth. Many teachers found the quantitative feedback distracting to the purpose and objective of ensuring the SLO was a quality plan and ready for implementation.

11 SLO Expectations Allow teachers time to review the page individually and then talk with partner about the information Field questions or clarify information.

12 Site Information Share site specific information with your staff. Some ideas are: What timeline will be utilized? What are the Review Team processes? Are there any specific expectations around standard selection or assessments? When will teachers craft SLOs? What communication or feedback loops will take place outside of MyPGS? Analysis of standards & assessment alignment Review a SLO in small groups and discuss what feedback might be given. PLC planning tool for SLO & MTSS Work with PLC to reflect on available student data, assessments and discuss options for SLO
