3 Fig. 2 Treatment algorithm for chronic HEV infection. The first therapeutic manoeuvre in transplant recipients is to reduce the dose of immunosuppression if possible. This will allow HEV to be cleared in about 30% of patients. If this is not possible, or unsuccessful, clinicians should follow the illustrated treatment algorithm.
