2 97 Oh, how I love your law! I meditate on it all day long. 98 Your commands are always with me and make me wiser than my enemies. 99 I have more insight than all my teachers, for I meditate on your statutes. 100 I have more understanding than the elders, for I obey your precepts.

3 101 I have kept my feet from every evil path
so that I might obey your word. 102 I have not departed from your laws, for you yourself have taught me. 103 How sweet are your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth! 104 I gain understanding from your precepts; therefore I hate every wrong path.

4 1. Wise vs Smart 98... wiser than my enemies.
99 ...I have more insight than all my teachers, 100...I have more understanding than the elders,

5 1. Wise vs Smart How do I become wise? 1. Be guided by the Bible
Consider all sides Think deeply If this, then this (consider the implications) Observe people's lives

6 2. A Discerning Mind 104 I gain understanding from your precepts; therefore I hate every wrong path. Good and Evil are hard to discern Good appears evil Evil appears good Satan disguises himself as an angel of light

7 3. A Congruent Life 101...I have kept my feet from every evil path
102 I have not departed from your laws, What is in my mind Analyze your thoughts What is in my mouth Observe your speech Is also the way I act What you actually do with your time

8 4. Seeking God's Wisdom 18 For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. 19 For it is written: “I will destroy the wisdom of the wise; the intelligence of the intelligent I will frustrate.” 20 Where is the wise person? Where is the teacher of the law? Where is the philosopher of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world?

9 21 For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not know him, God was pleased through the foolishness of what was preached to save those who believe. 22 Jews demand signs and Greeks look for wisdom, 23 but we preach Christ crucified: a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles, 24 but to those whom God has called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. 25 For the foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than human strength.

10 4. Seeking God's Wisdom 23 ...but we preach Christ crucified: a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles, 24 but to those whom God has called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God.25 For the foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than human strength. We preach Christ Crucified Foolishness of God is still wise The Cross seems like foolishness, but is is wise.

11 So What? The wise person is seldom controlled by hurry
The discerning person sees what is slightly off The congruent person sleeps well Consider Jesus How preposterous is His story Overview of Jesus' story You and I would not have planned Jesus God's Wisdom shines through the resurrection
