2. When you turn something inside out you can see how it is put together.
Two articles of clothing may look similar on the outside, but be of completely different quality when we examine the workmanship on the inside. 
The same is true with cars, houses, appliances and people! 
What is on the inside determines quality.

3. Outward appearances can surely be deceiving.
  Jesus noted that the Pharisees cleansed “the outside of the cup and dish, but inside they are full of extortion and self-indulgence.”
He commanded them to "cleanse the inside of the cup that the outside of them may be clean also" (Matthew 23:26-27). 

4. God judges the outside AND the inside
  Jesus asked the Pharisees, “Did not He who made the outside make the inside also?” (Luke 11:40). 
God judges the inside and outside by His word, which “is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart…” (Hebrews 4:12-13)

5. Long ago, when the prophet Samuel was eyeing the wrong man to anoint as king, the Lord told him, “Do not look at his appearance … because I have refused him. For the Lord does not see as man sees, for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” (1 Samuel 16:7)

6. What a blessing it would be if we could learn to see others as God does, rather than judging  “according to appearance.” (John 7:24)

7. This morning, the Lord sees each of us inside and out.
The person who stands justified before God is the person who has both “clean hands and a pure heart” (Psalm 24:4). 

8. Today, as we worship our Lord, may each of us. strive to please
Today, as we worship our Lord, may each of us strive to please Him, inside and out.
