2. Session Objectives
By the end of the session, the participants should be able to identify roles of the National Values Committee in:
Monitoring and evaluation of programmes and activities in the promotion of National Cohesion and Values.
Reporting on National Cohesion and Values in their respective institutions.

3. Introduction
The process of operationalizing NV&PG in institutions calls for coordinated intervention.
National Values committees are necessary in monitoring, evaluating and reporting on the implementation of various programmes, projects and activities for the promotion of NV&PG.

4. Roles of NV&PG committee
1. Coordination of sensitization/training of staff on national cohesion and national values: (a) Mobilization of staff to be trained; (b) Procurement of the venue; (c) Coordination of necessary logistical arrangements; and (d) Dissemination of IEC materials and other relevant documents on national values to their staff.

5. Roles of NV&PG committee
2. Track the status of the respective initiatives as guided by the performance contract targets on national cohesion and national values. (a) Awareness of contracted performance targets. (b) Regular monitoring and evaluation. (c) Periodically appraise top management on the status.

3.Constantly liaise with the Directorate of National Cohesion and Values on national cohesion and national values mainstreaming.
Represent their institutions in forums where information on national cohesion and national values mainstreaming is shared.

4.Create awareness among staff members on performance contract targets on national cohesion and national values.
Assign targets to departments and units in the institutions to facilitate effective tracking and reporting on NV&PG.

5. Coordinate the compilation, validation and submission of quarterly reports to the Directorate of National Cohesion and Values through: (a) Regular documentation of institutional performance; (b) Strict adherence to reporting tool; and (c) Timeliness.

6. Coordinate compilation, validation and submission of institution’s annual report on all measures taken and progress achieved in the realization of national values as espoused in Article 132(1)(c) of the Constitution.

7.Tracking the implementation of the President’s Commitments as captured in the institution’s performance contract. This is to:
(a) Compile, validate and submitting an annual report on the President’s Commitments;
(b) Regular monitoring and documentation of organizational performance;
(c) Strict adherence to reporting tool; and
(d) Timeliness.

8.Participation in the validation of the Annual President’s Report on measures taken and progress achieved.

14. Conclusion
An effective National Values Committee is instrumental in any MDA for mainstreaming, monitoring and reporting on National Cohesion and National Values.
