4 Overview of proposals Proposing to open a new Sainsbury’s convenience shop at 88 Dulwich Village which is currently a Shepherds. The proposed micro-store would be around 751 sq ft of sales space and will provide a range of fresh food and convenience ranges. It will be open from 7am – 11pm Given the size of the store and offer, it will not provide the more specialist ranges sold by some other retailers in the village. There will be no counters in store.

8 Alcohol and licensing We are seeking an alcohol license from 7am – 11pm. We take our responsibility towards selling age restricted products very seriously and operate a Think 25 policy. We always seek to operate our stores with respect for our neighbours and encourage all of our store managers to build a relationship with nearby residents Sainsbury’s take every possible measure to ensure that the store would not give rise to anti-social behaviour in the local area. It is not in our business interest.

9 Deliveries All store deliveries will be undertaken to the front of the site, as they do at Shepherds. Sainsbury’s Locals generally receive one to two Sainsbury’s deliveries per day. These are supplemented by our suppliers who deliver goods such as bread, milk and newspapers daily Although delivery times are dependent upon routes and traffic, we will work with neighbours and the local community to minimise disruption and inconvenience wherever possible. Deliveries will be via rigid vehicles around 10m in length. Not the larger vehicles which service our supermarkets.

10 Community benefits Will employ 15 people and, where possible, we would seek to fill these from the local area. 9 existing staff from Shepherds will transfer over. The store will bring further choice to residents looking to top up their shopping locally and help to retain investment and increase footfall in the area. The store will be an active member of the local community and will support a locally nominated charity, as well as Sainsbury’s nationwide Active Kids programme, which has invested more than £600,000 in the London Borough of Southwark since 2005.
