1. Helideck Lighting – what you need to do before March 2018
You need to meet requirements outlined in CAP437 related to helideck lighting. The deadline is March 2018.
Choose a system which fits your budget, installation capabilities and time frame
You need to ensure the lighting manufacturer is approved. You must check with the HCA that who you have chosen has been approved
You, as the oil and gas operator, are responsible for installing the new helideck lighting before March 2018
Once your approved system has been installed, there will be no further approval required. The next approval will be part of your next routine HCA inspection
If you do not complete this retrofit before March 31st 2018, the helideck will be limited to day flights only. This is defined as 30mins prior to sunrise and 30 mins post sunset, operating to normal visibility procedures
This takes the most time. There needs to be adequate time set aside to conduct surveys etc in order to consider each individual helideck. Each system installed will be bespoke to that helideck.
As a minimum you should set aside six months for this entire process
