1 Envisioning Outcomes Lets spend a minute envisioning what we want.
What are we going to do with all this new knowledge and information.

2 We have all seen creeks that look like this.

3 And we know we would prefer that look like this.

4 We don’t need creeks that shed water, we need creeks that catch water and hold water.
We need creeks that trap sediment and stabilize it in their banks, rather than filling downstream reservoirs.

5 Our fish and wildlife, and our recreationist need creeks that flow year round.

6 Adequate vegetation, landform or large woody material to:
We all agree that the best possible outcome are functional creeks in Texas Dissipate stream energy Stabilize banks Reduce erosion Trap sediment Build / enlarge floodplain Store water Floodwater retention Groundwater recharge Sustain base flow

7 Its about the people. A critical mass of passionate people who interact with riparian resources based on common understanding and shared knowledge of attributes and processes that constitute sustainability. To get to these best possible outcomes Its going to take people Passionate People who have a Common understanding Common Vocabulary Common Purpose How do we expand this network of knowledge in our schools, among our landowners, in our government policies, in our urban, exurban and rural neighborhoods, in our recreational communities, and in our technical professions? You came with ideas, you may have heard things that triggered new ideas. Now is the time to put our heads together and document these ideas. We hope that you will each take a challenge back to your workplace and your home place but we will also be creating a proceedings document that will capture your ideas in order to share them with decision-makers around the State.

8 In your program you have a set of questions
In your program you have a set of questions. We will be working in groups at tables with focused interest base. Each table has a leader who will job is to keep the discussion on track and make sure all voice are heard. Until three o’clock. Prepare to have your table leader or someone from the group come share two or three of your ideas.
