Mars Rover 2 Mission

A new Mars Rover has been sent to Mars on a mission to determine if a certain area might be more habitable for establishing a human colony at a later time. Watch as the new Rover (Mars Rover 2) enters Mars’ atmosphere:

Quick write- Question: How does the youtube clip relate to the above graph? What do you think the lines represent? (be specific why does the line change slope, direction, etc)

Your team of scientist will work together to graph then analyze the rover as it journeys to overcome obstacles due to weather and difficult terrain. As we wait for information to come back from Mars lets practice interpreting motion graphs.

A. Jeff walked from home up the steep hill at a slow constant speed opposite his house.
B. He stopped at the top to put his skates on C. then skated quickly at a constant speed down the hill, back home again.

The data from Mars just got transmitted and here is the briefing of Mars Rover 2 travel data. Your mission is to graph the Rover’s motion over time and to help NASA document the timeline of events for NASA’s records by doing the following steps: Graph the motion of the Mars Rover 2 Label how the rover is moving (constant, stopped etc) Debrief answering questions of Mars Rover 2 journey.

Ex: What time periods was the wolf stopped?
Step 1: Graph Step 2: Label Step 3:Debrief Ex: What time periods was the wolf stopped? Answer in a complete sentence

First few motions of the rover….
