3 What’s driving change? Competition Consumers Environment Society
Technology Society Conversations are being had around the world about The value of agriculture Food safety Water quality and scarcity Profit per hectare Greenhouse gasses The emerging countries of Brazil, Russia, India, China and Africa are having more and more influence on our business – we have to be competitive on the world stage We’re ‘on’ and accessible 24/7 with the internet and new technologies transforming the way we go about our daily lives (and the way our farmers run their businesses) Our customer base is consolidating. Farms are getting bigger, and with size comes a higher level of in-house expertise and more buying power. There’s a shift in focus from traditional nutrient requirements of NPKS, to exploring the possibilities of new chemical and biological technologies. Legislative change is influencing our freedom to operate our business and our farmers’ freedom to farm. We also need social licence to operate from a community who wants to protect the environment and leave it in great shape for future generations, and who cares about where their food comes from and how it was produced.

The opportunity is clear to me, the need for safe real food exists and will grow, we cant afford to feed the 40 million that we can, we need to feed 20% of the most affluent people in the world focus on the one meal a week that you want to impress – date night?
