3. What does the PGD Service do?
Answers queries from healthcare professionals across England – 250 enquiries received in 2017 and 290 in 2018.
Produces Q&A resources and updates these as part of a rolling programme/when required by changes.
Supports national agenda including supporting NHSE in working towards new professional groups being included in PGD legislation and NHSI with Carter 2 ‘Do Once’ programme development looking towards national PGDs.
Supports professional bodies with queries and resources relating to PGDs.

5. Why do we need it?
Interpretation of legislation and most recent guidance
NICE does not and cannot cover interpretation of legislation and/or issues arising e.g.
labelling of medicines issued under PGD
who is responsible for authorising a PGD
For guidance about the “how to” as well as the “should do”

6. PGD Service - more than just development of website resources
Significant pharmacy and professional/ agency networking
Analysis of enquiry answering service demonstrates on that enquirers changed governance, practice or service delivery.
