Climate from Space (2 editions)
Optical Remote Sensing
The Frozen Frontier: Monitoring the Greenland Ice Sheet from Space
SAR MOOC “Echoes in Space” – Rerun in preparation with Uni Jena and CSA
MOOC on Land Use and Land Cover Change
Oriented to thematic application (not sensor-oriented)
Foster use of all possible EO data & techniques (especially Sentinels), in support of a variety of scientific, operational and societal Land Applications and services.
Useful both in Academia and for Capacity Building.

2- Overview of the different MOOC runs (5):
General run: recall optical & SAR principles for different Land applications, with recent results (ESA, and other CEOS WG CapD members)
A series of 4 re-runs, reusing core material from the general run, but focused on
specific applications (E.g. Land Cover, Forests and Natural Resources, Agriculture, Emergencies, Geophysical applications, Wetlands, Urban, Biodiversity..)
Some re-runs may be more scientific and others more operational.
One of the 4 re-runs will be devoted to regional Land Applications for Africa (possibly related to Sustainable Development and SDG – suggestions from CEOs WG CapD welcome!)

5. Cover theoretical principles, description of physical phenomena

3 - CONTENT
Cover theoretical principles, description of physical phenomena
Selection of relevant EO data (data selection, data access)
Relevant techniques,
Available tools and toolboxes (with focus on ESA ones)
Addressing use of cloud computing environments and possibly ESA Thematic Exploitation Platforms
Capitalise on training material previously developed by ESA and CEOS WGCapD (e.g.
Training Courses, webinars,…).
Consisting of lectures and case studies (illustrative examples with questions and
exercises), both highly interactive.
A Certificate / Transcript / Diploma Supplement will be issued to successful
participants

4- Timeline:
The MOOC (including re-runs) is expected to last approximately 36 months. The exact schedule and duration for the deployments of the re-runs is still being defined
