Associate in Arts & Sciences BM in Music with Vocal Performance Option (109 credits) Music Department College of Arts, Letters, and Education Why study Music? We believe the study and enjoyment of music inspires students to be informed, responsible, and appreciative members of a democratic society. Music majors work closely with faculty, who combine dedicated teaching with artistic and scholarly excellence. Instructors and students hold concerts and recitals throughout the year. Scholarship Opportunities The Music Department has scholarships available to incoming freshman as well as continuing students. For details on audition dates, call or visit Practice Rooms and Performance Facilities Music students enjoy modern facilities featuring a state of the art piano laboratory with 16 units, 32 practice rooms, electronic music laboratory, three technically-enhanced classrooms, and an extensive collection of recordings, scores, and music reference materials located in the JFK Library. In addition, the department houses music classrooms, two large rehearsal rooms (vocal and instrumental), and a 250-seat capacity recital hall. The renovated Showalter Hall serves as an additional performance venue. Minimum Grade Standards The minimum acceptable grade for any music course required for graduation is 2.8. This standard also applies to courses transferred from other institutions.
