To break away from Britain and the King. To get our freedom and independence.

Thomas Jefferson is it’s author

5. Where was it written? Independence Hall in Philadelphia

July 4th, 1776

Guaranteed human rights, freedoms, and individual rights

9. What is a grievance and how many did Jefferson list?
A grievance is a problem or issue
Jefferson lists 27 things the king has done wrong

10. Why is it important to the colonies (and us today)?
Its marks the birth of our country
Ideas help to found our government, still valid today
Tells Britain and the world we are a FREE and INDEPENDENT Nation!!
